My soon to be 8 month old loves the neighborhood garden that me and my hubby has started. She can't help us yet, but she loveswatching what is going on. Sunday when we started the garden we slaw a caterpiller become a beautiful moth. It was one of those look a like moths that look like butterflies. She has also gotten to see birds, squirrels, and even a baby deer. I hope not to introduce her to any snakes yet, but since I lived in Texas it's kind of hard to miss them. She likes the water hitting her from the sparkler as well. We have a bird house in our yard near the garden and soon I'm going to build a bird feeder to put in the yard, so she can see more birds when we go into the neighborhood garden. She doesn't like grasshoppers. She had one jump on her and it scared her. She doesn't mind them when me or her daddy are holding, but doesn't want them touching her. I say gardening is the best way to get your young ones outside to learn and to be doing something to get their bodies moving, but do use sun protection on them.
